None right now, sorry!

Saturday, January 22, 2011: The Mountain

The tallest event is also the deepest. The dead of mid-winter brings with it this heavy, contemplative, gorgeous set.

Chicago Q Ensemble will open the program, performing Matthew Pakulski's Lia for string quartet at 6:30 sharp.

Next, the piano-cello duo of Rosana Chen and Tom Clowes will perform a short program consisting of:

  • Suite Populaire Espangole - Manuel De Falla
  • Le Grand Tango - Astor Piazzolla
  • Song of the Black Swan - Heitor Villa-Lobos

Closing the program, the WACSAC ensemble, including pianist Amy Wurtz, cellist Tom Clowes and violinist Elisabeth Johnson, will perform Pakulski's Quia for piano trio.

This event will also feature a *free art workshop* for children that will be in a separate room, and an exhibition during the reception afterwards of the art that the kids produce. Wow! If you're interested in that, please RSVP with the ages of the kids so we can be sure we have enough age-appropriate materials to accommodate everyone.

Light refreshments will be served after the program.

As with past events in the series, the venue will be Rumble Arts Center at 3413 W. North Ave. in Humboldt Park. Show at 6:30pm; door at 6; suggested donation $10.

Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010: Windy

Event #2 of WACSAC Season #1 blows you away just as fall prepares to turn to winter. As with Silver & Gold, the event will eventuate at Rumble Arts. WACSAC will perform as a wind ensemble:

  • Wind Quintet
  • St. Jacob's Well for winds and cello

Also in its premier performance will be Chicago composer Cole W Thornton's "Guitar Sonata no. 1" for solo guitar, as performed by James Baur. Mr. Baur will also play selections from Mr. Thornton's "Guitar Sketchbook, Vol. 1".

Completing the bill will be a special acoustic set from the rock band 1/2 Mad Poet.

Space design and installation by Ramsey Beyer will get you into the "Windy" mood!

Show at 7pm; door at 6:30; suggested donation $10.
